IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING TRASH PICKUP

BILLING

The Borough shall bill all the residents and customers within the Borough. Contact the Borough Office with any concerns or questions at 814-634-5110 between the hours of 7AM -3:30 PM.

PICK UP INFORMATION

The Contractor (Harbaugh Trucking) shall pick up all residential garbage at each residence and residential unit within the Borough. The Contractor will pick up smaller 1 to 8 yard containers. All trash shall be set at the curb, not further than 3 feet from the street in an area free of debris/snow and shall be contained in bags not smaller than 13 gallons or larger than 33 gallons, no more than eight (8) 33 gallon bags per week. Bags must be tied, no loose trash. Cans shall not be larger than 33 gallons. Any ashes set for collection shall be in containers not larger than 5 gallon buckets and must have handles. Hot ashes will not be picked up. Trash should be set out by 7 AM the scheduled day of pickup.

Residential and Commercial waste collection schedule within the Borough is as follows: Monday – Northeast of the railroad tracks and proceeding to the southeast to Keystone Street.
Wednesday – All of Clay Street and south of the Sheetz store and from Cuba Street Ext in the west and south from Front Street through 11th A venue on both the east and west sides of Beachley St.
Friday- West of the railroad tracks commencing at Hill Alley and proceeding on all streets to southwest of the railroad tracks running on both sides of Old Rt. 219 through and including Main Street.

MISSED COLLECTIONS

Contractor will be responsible for receiving all reports of missed collections and rectifying any missed collections within seven business days of missed collection. Generally missed collections shall be collected on the next collection date within the Borough. To report a missed collection contact the Borough Office at 634-5110.

HOLIDAY – CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEARS

The contractor shall not be required to provide collections services on Christmas or New Years Day. The collections for the week of Christmas and New Years will be adjusted. Normal pickups for Monday will be picked up on Tuesday. Normal pickups for Wednesday will be picked up on Thursday. Normal pickups for Friday will be picked up on Saturday.

BULKY WASTE

Bulky waste shall mean discarded items that are larger than 3 feet in any dimension, and or heavier than 50 pounds in weight, and therefore too large to be collected with an empty waste receptacle, thus too large to be collected during normal residential solid waste collection, including but not limited to items such as mattresses and box springs, indoor/outdoor furniture, swing sets, plastic swimming pools, large toys, bicycles, fish aquariums, and other similar items. Bulky waste shall be collected and billed for on a per item basis and the resident shall pay the contractor for such collections. Contact Harbaugh Trucking at 926-4713 to set up a bulky pickup.

CONSTRUCTION AND DEMOLITION WASTE

Construction and Demolition Waste shall mean building materials and rubble resulting from construction, remodeling, repair and demolition operation on pavements, houses, commercial buildings and other structure. Such waste shall include, but is not limited to wood, bricks, metal, concrete, wall board, paper, cardboard, carpeting, construction materials resulting from remodeling, inert waste, landfill material, and other waste which has a low potential for groundwater contamination. Construction and Demolition Waste may require the need for a dumpster. Dumpsters and roll off boxes may be obtained from the Contractor, but you may rent these containers from another vendor of your choice.

UNACCEPTABLE WASTE

Unacceptable Waste shall mean hazardous waste, biomedical waste, tires, paint, paint solvents, treated wood, empty aerosol cans, Construction and Demolition Waste, compressed gas cylinders, large engine parts, small engines containing oils or fuels, chemicals, large glass panes, ammunition of any type, firearms, and any other items which the Contractor is not permitted to handle or collect under the laws and regulations under the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The Contractor is not required to collect or dispose of unacceptable waste set out on a pickup location. If the Contractor encounters unacceptable waste, the Contractor will notify the resident and the Borough of the unacceptable waste so a solution can be achieved. This notice shall occur within 72 hours of the date the unacceptable waste is encountered by the Contractor.

LEAF WASTE

One bag of leaf waste will be collected for every one bag of regular trash.
